The Renewed Meaning of Success

I have written this article with mature singers in mind, but you singers who are just starting out may also be interested in this story about the struggle to be discovered.

This week I received notice from several older singers (in their 50′s and 60′s) who were planning to do big-scale auditions and competitions.

Three of them wrote to me with a similar theme. They were wondering why they were still pursuing the wild dream to sing so late in life. One person in particular seemed to be having quite a struggle with her need to be finally recognized for her great talent.

I think it is a common feeling among musical artists.

If you have enjoyed some singing success early in life, you understand the enormous pleasure that comes with performance: the great joy of singing with deep feeling, the thrill of filling a packed room with musical energy, the excitement that comes with the sound of spontaneous applause, the nearly unmatchable feeling when waves of love and admiration pour over you from an appreciative audience. You give your all. And it comes back to you with powerful immediacy.

You imagine that this could be your life! Here is the unique opportunity to do something you love with all your heart, while enjoying some measure of fame and fortune.

It is a powerful and seductive tug at a person’s heart. Especially if you are pretty certain that you have what it takes, – if only that big break could come in time.

Few of us ever hit the big time, and it is not necessarily due to a lack of worthy talent. Instead, it could be due to a combination of other issues that were beyond our control: bad timing, wrong location (we did not live in the right city), family pressures, lack of funding, or ill health at the wrong time.

It could also be due to early-made decisions: a reluctance to be constantly on the road, the fear of taking a major risk, the desire to be free of big-time artistic constraints, or even the fear of eventual success.

And one day, perhaps many years into the career struggle, you realize that you must get practical. You shift gears and move on. Your life changes and it may be a great life. You do well in another job, – have a wonderful family. Your life is full and deep. But somewhere inside, the dream of vocal stardom still sits and waits.

Know The Cost Of Laser Tattoo Removal

According to the studies, more than 10 million Americans have at least one tattoo. Also it is estimated that 50% of people who have tattoo on their bodies regret having it and want it removed later. The cost of tattoo removal may vary greatly and it depends on several factors such as the location of tattoo, colors in the tattoo, and more.

When it comes to tattoo removal, one should know that not all the tattoos can be removed. Generally tattoos are meant to be permanent and with the latest ink technology and expert tattoo specialists improving their skills and the tattoos imprinted these days are very difficult to remove. In few cases, even we use the best technique like laser tattoo removal, some residual scarring remains.

Also people should aware that not all the people are good candidates for laser tattoo removal. People with fair skin and have tattoos on their arms, legs, buttocks or chest are the great candidates. Dark skinned people and people who have tattoos on their ankles, fingers or areas where there is less body fat are not ideal candidates for laser tattoo removal. So, before going to consider laser techniques for removal, it is better to consult a specialist about the potential success rate for any given tattoo and skin type.

When it comes to the cost of tattoo removal, the technique is completely a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by any insurance plan. Removal of tattoo is much more expensive than placing it and the cost varies based upon the size, type and location of the tattoo and also the number of visits needed.

Usually the cost ranges from $200 to $500 per session and people need five to twenty sessions to remove a tattoo based on its type and size. So, the final cost could reach $10,000. People who feel the removal process painful, the surgeon gives anesthesia or a sedation cream and the geographic location of the procedure and other associated costs. This might cost extra, about $50 or more per shot. Sometimes, the surgeon suggests an anesthetic cream to be applied after the removal.

People who have skin sensitivity to light, scarring problems, herpes disease, or other skin conditions like impetigo at the site are the suitable candidates for laser tattoo removal. Recently tanned skin should not be treated. Also people who used photo-sensitiser like isotretinoin, in the last 12 months are also not suitable for the treatment.

Tattoo Talk

With stars like Angeline Jolie sporting tattoos just about everywhere, can you blame the young kids today, if they want to get a tattoo or two? Tattoos in fact, are not a new concept. It is an ancient form of body art. Almost every culture in the world has shown traces of tattooing. In fact, the oldest known tattoo is five thousand three hundred years old!

History of Tattoos

Yup, I’m talking about the tattoos that were discovered on Oetzi, the Iceman who was found in the year 1991. The tattoo he sports consists basically of criss-cross, vertical and horizontal lines. There is of course, some speculation as to why the tattoos are there in the first place. No matter the reason, the fact remains that Oetzi had a tattoo!

In fact, not just Oetzi, traces of the rich history of tattooing have been found in various other cultures as well. Russian mummies, about 2400 years old, found in Siberia, Egyptian mummies, Japanese figures and even our very own Red Indian culture – you name it and they’ve been tattooing each other for years!

Tattoos represent a variety of things – social stature, religion, prayer incantations. In many cases, they’re just there for decorative purposes. Men and women all over the world sport beautiful tattoos of every possible color and shape. And you can join their number too.

How To Spot a Good Tattoo Artist

But don’t rush into anything. Before you get a tattoo, it is very important that you consider your decision carefully, because once you get a tattoo, you can’t get rid of it easily. Plus it is really expensive to remove it. Ask around to find out where people are getting their tattoos done and consider reviews. Tour a few tattoo parlors first before you make your decision.

First thing you should notice about the tattoo parlor is whether it is clean or not. See whether the tattoo artist is using sterilized needles and tools – in fact, it is best if you visit a tattoo artist who uses disposable needles. Be sure to take note of the general cleanliness of the place too.

Your Kid Has a Great Voice – Let It Shine!

From my experience children love to sing – and when they do so they can often sing with a confidence and freedom that can fade as we grow older. It is very important to nurture these wonderful qualities from the start.

Singing lessons for children are designed to teach your child the skills needed to strengthen and control the voice, whilst remaining fun and enjoyable. The voice is still developing as we grow through our teenage years so finding suitable exercises is very important.

Lessons are combined with ‘song practice.’ This is where we finish the session with a song that is chosen by the student – we have many backing tracks available, from ‘High School Musical’ to ‘Lilly Allen!’

Finding time in our busy schedules whilst making sure that our children are well supervised can be difficult. In my experience lessons work more effectively when taught in the comfort of your own home. This allows your child to learn within a relaxed and familiar environment.

Music happens to be one of those rare things which each and every child enjoys. Though most 5 year olds, 6 year olds, 8 year olds, etc. are at an age where they are too young to understand music theories or music appreciation, nevertheless, nearly all of them enjoy the ‘sound’ of music. This is something which is very important, and it is often a very decisive factor in a child pursuing music or developing a serious interest in music at a later stage.

Singing happens to be one aspect of music that most kids are introduced to in the early stages of school. A friendly-looking music teacher, whose slightly plump, with rimmed glasses that rest at the tip of her nose, sitting at the piano, teaching “Popeye the Sailorman” to a bunch of young enthusiastic kiddos, is a very common sight, and one which instantly brings a smile on the face of any bystander. Well, the liking for music (not to mention, the increasing influence of reality shows) has led to quite a few children developing a serious interest in music, and in particular, singing. Well, for all you kids and young children who wish to sing well, here are some singing tips for kids.

How to Clean Your Digital Camera

Ensuring your digital camera remains clean and in good condition is an integral part of successful photography. However, it is important to remember the old adage ‘If it’s not broken, don’t fix it’. Take measures to avoid the lenses and screens becoming dirty in the first place. The best form of protection for your lens is achieved by attaching a UV filter to it at all times. This will prevent it becoming dusty or even worse, getting scratched. It is far easier and cheaper to clean or replace a damaged filter than a ruined lens. Filters are available in various price ranges and if your only wish is to protect the lens then a cheap version will do. Individual lenses stored apart from the camera body should always be kept with caps on both ends to avoid them becoming damaged or dirty.

One mistake people often make is to attempt to clean their lens with a cloth or tissue without first checking the lens for larger pieces of grit. These are then picked up by the cloth and dragged over the surface of the lens causing major damage that could have been easily avoided. Any visible grit should be removed using a soft brush or simply by blowing on the lens prior to using a cloth or tissue.

Lens Cleaning Fluids are usually alcohol based and should be used carefully. They are worth using as they will remove difficult smudges and fingerprints when they are used properly. Just add a couple of drops to your cleaning cloth and wipe the lens or screen gently in a circular motion. Always apply the fluid to the cloth, not directly to the item you are cleaning.

Disposable cleaning tissues are also available for cleaning lenses, filters etc. These are impregnated with cleaning fluids and it is important to use them only once and discard them after use. They are usually made from a very thin paper material which is much thinner than the domestic varieties available. Don’t be tempted to use any that are not specifically designed for photography equipment as they are likely to be coarse and may damage your equipment.

If you are concerned about the environment and do not like the idea of throwing away used tissues, there are re-usable micro-fibre cleaning cloths available. It is important to keep these cloths in good condition and they should be regularly washed and stored correctly.
